With Frostfire behind bars and the much of the gangsters gone from his neighbourhood. John took a break to continue his education that he was forced to give up. Despite this he remain in touch with the hero community via the internet HERO Chatroom on IRC.
Unfortunately the peace lasted only a few short months. The absence of the Skulls and Hellions left a power vacuum which allowed another gang known as the Tsoo to moved in. As their numbers started to swell the Tsoo became bolder and bolder. They started hounding small businesses for protection fees and eventually grew too large for the PPD to handle.
Remembering all too well the tragedy that happened years ago. The two gangs that started a bloody war and cost his cousin's life was none other than a Hongkong triad and the Tsoo. With a bone to pick with the Tsoo, John resumed his crimefighting career once more.
John knew he could not be around all the time to protect the neighbourhood. Believing that the best way is to teach the citizens how to defend themselves from the gang members.
Taking money out of his education fund, he rented a place and started up a dojo.
To make a name for himself, John donned his orange Dobok and called himself the Kungfu Kid.
He began waging war against the Tsoo and struck at those involved in protection rackets and moved on to busting up their joints. With his aid, the PPD rounded up several Tsoo and confiscated tons of illegal drugs.
As his reputation grew, more people applied for self-defense course and joined the dojo.
John's costume and actions has certainly made a name for himself. He eventually became friends with Detective Leung, a PPD officer assigned to tackle the asian triads.
While Detective Leung handles the investigative and paper work, John does the groundwork that the PPD cannot handle.
Their partnership eventually put an end to the Tsoo foray into John's neighbourhood.
