CAW: Part 4

PARTIAL REBOOT

As I come closer to completing the world, I realize there are parts of the world that are less than ideal. Its playable and probably looks nice from some angles.

The wharf looks out of place since it wasn't prperly aligned with the street layout.

The wharf itself isn't so much of a problem. Although when you close in, it will look somewhat odd. Suggesting mediocre effort & poor town planning.

The landmass looks like it came to an abrupt end when viewed in game.

Above landmass looks like an island but its was actually intended to be a cut-off section of a peninsula. The mountains are supposed to hide the horizon. Since no 'distant terrain' was suitable for this section & I didn't leave two chunks of buffer zone. It ended up looking weird in the game. Then again this particular landmass only has 2 lots, which made it even more pointless.

Considering many users out there put out quality worlds with exceptional polish, the two areas highlighted above would make my work appear haphazard and shoddy. With the bar being set higher, it would require extra effort to create an acceptable map on an average standard.

Fortunately, I was able to export & reimport the height map that retained geographical contours of the world. This probably has set me back a good 3 to 4 months worth of work but at least its better than restarting all over again. Well, then I guess its back to the drawing block.
