Sims 3: Generations

It would seem like the Sims 3 team has finally gotten around to listening to their player-base. The 4th expansion pack would be focused on the stages of life of the sim. Adding new interactions, a memory system similar to the one in Sims 2 & of course new objects.

Surprisingly there are no new neighbourhoods added to the world. Which to me wasn't a terribly bad thing since you can no longer travel from one town to the other. Unlike in Sims 2. Fortunately, there aren't alot new lot types either, so players won't have to devote a huge portion fo their time re-designing their existing town's layout.

The features tauted in Sims 3 Generation were generally well received by many Sims 3 fans. From what I gather, most fans including myself, want to see Sims 3 return to its roots of being a sandbox life-simulation game instead of the semi faux RPG that it has turned into.

While I'm definitely excited, I'm holding myself back instead of rushing to pre-order the game. Given EA's track record of releasing buggy products and their lack of support for it. It may be better to wait 1 - 2 month after it has been released before making the final purchase. This would give EA enough time to release a patch to fix the bugs or gather feedback on whether this EP is really worth the 40 bucks.

That is until I saw this ad on the Sims website.

Excited that I will be getting a rather good deal. I clicked on it and was sorely disappointed.
Already an owner of Late Night EP, the offer of a 20% discount was no good to me.
I guess the offer is regional and we won't get getting this in Asia Pacific.

Still, many would prefer to given Sims point rather than something that they could have potentially own. Then again, there is an contentious issue with sim points as many around the globe has not been able to download content they paid for from it.

Ah well, I guess its back to waiting. Just 10 more days and the first view from the community will be out. We'll know then if Sims 3 Generations can hold up to our expectations.
