Pre-Service History
Found abandon as an infant on Earth in North America, Manhattan. She was adopted by a childless couple by the name of Bill Ted Shepard & Anne Chan Shepard. At the age of 8 she saw them being gunned down by gang members of the slums. Later investigations revealed that the gang members mistaken them for another household.

Her next 3 years were spent in the Orphanage & Shelter for the homeless. She went missing one day and never returned. 2 years later she was a runner for the REDS, a gang based on Earth itself. She eventually became a full member and got herself involved with more serious crimes. Her offences include theft, arson, assault, drugs & robbery. She was apprehended by law enforcement and sent to juvenile detention.

Vanessa was found to be problematic and subsequently transfered to a military school where she is forcibly conscripted to join the System Alliance.



Psychological Profile
Vanessa witnessed the violent death of both her foster parents at the hands of violent gangsters. Subsequently while at the orphanage & shelter for the homeless, she was abused both physically and sexually.
When one of the shelter workers tried to rape her she retaliated & accidentally killed the man. Out of fear, she fled the shelter and ended up wandering the streets as a homeless. All alone & nowhere to go, it was a trying ordeal. She often had to go without food for days.

Desperation eventually drove her to scavenge or offer sexual favours in exchange for food & shelter. These experiences traumatized her greatly & left an inedible mark on her. As a result, she became very distrustful of people but also learnt to be self reliant & resourceful.

Vanessa felt that if she had power & wealth, she would not have been trampled on. To this extent, she pursues these things with a ruthless determination witnessed by her fellow gang members during her time with the REDS.

Yet her ordeal was far from over. Deployed to investigate Akuze, she witness her whole unit massacred by Thresher Maws. Several amongst those that perished were homeless children like her given a 2nd chance in the Systems Alliance rehabilitation program. These were people that she slowly developed a bond for and their deaths had a huge impact on her psyche.

Finding people hard to trust and fearing to lose people that she grew to trust. Vanessa grew cold & detached. Her relationship with people tend to be brief & business like.

Participated in a highly classified mission. Successfully completed all mission objectives. Reconaissence completed with intel gathered on political situation of Anhur.
Key Batarians involved with the Na'hesit faction were eliminated.

Patrol duty, retaliatory strikes against Batarian pirates.

Aug 2177 - Akuze
Marines from the 6th Frontier Division 102 & 108 were all wiped out by tresher maws. Only Vanessa from the 108 survived.
